This commissioned relief will, when finished,
consist of two copies of this design. The finished reliefs will
measure 7 x 8 feet and will hang on the front and rear facades of the
Village of Oakcreek Community building near my home in Sedona, AZ

In early January I scaled the cartoon or
freehand sketch up onto an eight-foot backboard.
Next I created an armature for the larger
forms from chicken wire and expansion foam.
Here Marilyn, my apprentice, is helping me
apply the first coat of hot clay to the armature. This process
took about three days in mid February.
By the first of March the rough clay is
growing gradually more refined.
